Hi, welcome to the 70’s fan club which is now a 4 part web site. You can access the other 3 parts by clicking on the '70s Fan Club Links' page on the left of the screen.

The ultimate aim of this website is to collect together all the newsletters published by the Rubettes Fan Club from August 1974 through to June 1980.

The fan club secretary was Chrissie Jones (now McCall - pictured above with her assistant Sue) who also wrote and produced the newsletters. The copyright in the newsletters belongs to her. I've been in contact with Chrissie regularly in recent years and she is delighted that the newsletters are going to be made available on the Internet for fans of the band to read. I managed to persuade Chrissie to write a recollection of her memories from that time. It's so good I've posted it up immediately. Click on 'Chrissie's recollections'. It's great stuff.

There is no charge being made to look at the newsletters. All we ask is that they don't turn up for sale on Ebay.

Initially I saved the images as pdf files. To view the first batch of newsletters posted here, you will need to have Adobe Acrobat software. Most computers have this installed already, however, if you don't you can download it free here. www.adobe.com

However, after switching to an iMac computer, my scanner refused to behave as it did with a PC. So, you can now see the newsletters right on the page as jpeg files.

As the website developed, more information was published and credits given. To begin with, I loaded in the 36th and final issue published in June 1980. Next to be uploaded were the Membership Kit that new members received when they joined the official fan club and the very first issue that was published after the band had enjoyed 2 hit singles.

As more issues become available, you will notice various offers available, requests for pen pals, records etc ...It's necessary to emphasise that none of the offers are valid anymore. I would be surprised if any people listed still live at the same address and any phone numbers will have long changed ownership.

OK.We are noew very close to having the complete set of newsletters but keep checking back for updates. There is now a 'latest' page detailing recent additions to the site...and anything else that might be of interest. If anybody out there can help with the last remaining missing issues please make contact.

Regrettably translations of the newsletters aren't available here due to lack of space.

In fact I have now re-located all the information over 4 websites to squeeze it all in. Links can be found on the 'Latest' page here.

If you were a fan of the band (like myself) in the 70's, I hope this rekindles some nice memories. If you're just starting to get into the band, welcome aboard.

Stay tuned, Mark Haley © 2005-02-25
